The short answer

Hybrid lashes in West Edmonton at Mari Esthetics are a $90 Hybrid Set, about 135 minutes, with a $25 deposit. Choose Classic ($70, 120 minutes) for a natural mascara look, Hybrid for texture you can wear every day, or Volume 2D–5D ($100, 150 minutes) for impact. Hybrid Fills are $60 and should be booked within three weeks.

Hybrid lashes in West Edmonton at Mari Esthetics are a $90 Hybrid Set, about 135 minutes, with a $25 deposit to hold your appointment. The other two full sets on the menu: Classic Set, $70 for 120 minutes, and Volume Set (2D–5D), $100 for 150 minutes, each also with a $25 deposit. If you already know which one you want, book your Hybrid Set here. If you don't, good news: you already know how to make this decision. You make it every October when you open the front closet.

When a new client sits down with Marinelle Trevino, the useful question isn't "classic or volume?" It's "what does your November look like?" Shifts, commutes, kids, hockey nights, the Christmas Market. The set should fit the life, not the other way around.

The parka test: three coats, three lash sets

Every Edmonton woman owns a coat wardrobe rated for different weather. Lashes work the same way.

  • Classic Set ($70, 120 minutes): the fall jacket. One extension on one natural lash, for a natural, mascara-like look. Light, easy and very "my lashes, but awake." Great if you want to look rested, not done.
  • Hybrid Set ($90, 135 minutes): the parka you actually live in. A mix of classic and volume lashes for a fuller, textured look. It goes with everything, from a 7 a.m. hospital shift to a girls' night at Rogers Place, and it's the coat you'll reach for from November to March.
  • Volume Set 2D–5D ($100, 150 minutes): the expedition parka. Soft, fluffy, multi-dimensional fans customized to your eye shape, from soft everyday volume to a more glamorous finish. Built for impact.

Nobody wears the expedition parka to grab a coffee in September, and nobody waits at a -30 bus stop in a denim jacket. The same logic picks your lashes.

Hybrid lashes in West Edmonton: the middle isn't "half-way"

Mexican makeup artist Luis Torres, whose work includes looks for Gigi Hadid and Anitta, told InStyle México that a look works when its intention is clear, and that when it stays "a la mitad" (half-way), it doesn't. He also put "pestañas sin personalidad" (lashes with no personality) on his list of things that excite him less in 2026.

That is exactly the fear many women have about hybrids: that they're a compromise for people who couldn't decide. Done well, they're the opposite. A hybrid mixes single classic extensions with light volume fans, so you get texture: some lashes look defined, some look soft, and the lash line looks fuller without looking heavy. Brand guides such as Senselashes describe a common industry mix of around 60% classic and 40% volume fans; your own balance depends on your natural lashes and the look you want, which is what the consultation is for. Not medio-medio. On purpose.

Which set fits your November?

From November 1, Alberta stays on permanent Alberta Time, so the clocks won't fall back this year. For a lot of women in Callingwood, Lewis Estates and The Hamptons, that means darker mornings on the Henday and office or unit lighting all day. Here's how the three sets tend to match real Edmonton routines:

  • 12-hour shifts at the Misericordia or the U of A hospital: classic, or a soft hybrid, if you want to look awake above a mask without anything that feels heavy by the end of the shift.
  • A downtown commute that's dark both ways: hybrid. The texture reads as "awake" under fluorescent light and on video calls, and you can skip mascara at 6:45 a.m.
  • Oilers nights and holiday parties: hybrid if you want to look finished in arena lighting and selfies without strip lashes in the glovebox; volume if you want the full expedition-parka effect.
  • New moms with ten minutes in the morning: a hybrid gives you a "ready" face with zero steps. If you're just past the first weeks, read our post on hybrid lashes for new moms after the 40 days.
  • U of A and MacEwan students on a budget: start with a $70 Classic Set and decide at a later visit if you want more texture. Our guide to lash extension costs in Edmonton breaks down what you're paying for.

Not sure? Book the set you lean towards and let Marinelle confirm it with you in person before she starts.

What Marinelle Trevino looks at before she recommends a set

The set name is only half the decision. Before she starts, Marinelle Trevino will look at:

  • Your natural lashes. How thick and strong they are decides how much weight they can comfortably carry. Fine or fragile lashes often do better with classic or a lighter hybrid.
  • Your eye shape. Mapping and curl matter as much as the set type. The Mexican lash school MKPMU explains how curl and design are matched to eye shape, for example L curls for very straight lashes or monolids and extra lift for downturned eyes. Many Filipina, South Asian, Latina and Arab clients have straight or downward-pointing lashes, so this step counts.
  • How often you can realistically come back. If your schedule only allows a fill every three or four weeks, that changes the recommendation (more on that below).
  • Your calendar. A wedding, a gala or a trip home for the holidays can tip the choice from classic to hybrid, or from hybrid to volume.

The fill math nobody tells you

The full set is buying the coat. Fills are how you keep wearing it. Here are the current fill prices, all recommended every 2–3 weeks with at least 40–50% of your extensions still on:

  • Classic Fill: $45, about 90 minutes. After more than 4 weeks, or with under 40% remaining, a full set may be needed.
  • Hybrid Fill: $60, about 60 minutes. The window is tighter: after more than 3 weeks since your last visit, or with under 40% remaining, a full set may be needed.
  • Volume Fill: $70, about 90 minutes. After more than 4 weeks, or with under 40% remaining, a full set may be needed.

So if you choose hybrid, plan the calendar now. A full set in the first half of November puts your first Hybrid Fill around the last week of the month, right on time for the Edmonton Christmas Market at Fort Edmonton Park, which opens November 27. And if, after living in your hybrid for a couple of weeks, you'd like it a little softer or fuller, tell Marinelle at your first fill. For more on timing, read why your hybrid fill should happen before you hit 40%.

A 5-question lash chooser

  1. Do you want people to notice your lashes, or just notice that you look rested? Rested points to classic; noticed points to hybrid or volume.
  2. Do you wear mascara most days now? If yes, a hybrid will feel familiar. If you wear it only for events, classic may be plenty.
  3. Are your natural lashes fine or sparse? Tell Marinelle; it may steer you towards classic or a lighter hybrid.
  4. Can you come back within three weeks? If not, classic or volume fills give you a little more room.
  5. How many big nights are on your calendar before January? Several point to hybrid; if one gala or wedding is the main event, maybe volume.
