The 60-Second Lash Bath: Volume Lashes in West Edmonton ($100) That Stay Fluffy From Diwali to Gurpurab

Volume lashes are harder to clean, and Edmonton's furnace air, wet snow and festival-kitchen steam don't help. The nightly 60-second lash bath that keeps a $100 Volume Set fluffy from Diwali to Gurpurab, and what Marinelle will ask you.

The short answer

The Volume Set (2D–5D) at Mari Esthetics in West Edmonton is $100 for about 150 minutes, with a $25 deposit. To keep it fluffy from Diwali to Gurpurab, give it a 60-second lash bath each night: lukewarm water, oil-free cleanser, base to tips, pat dry, brush once dry. Fill every 2–3 weeks ($70).

At Mari Esthetics, a private home studio in West Edmonton, the Volume Set (2D–5D) is $100 for about 150 minutes (two and a half hours), with a $25 deposit that comes off your total. This post is for the woman who already has her set booked for Diwali and wants it to still look fluffy at Gurpurab two weeks later. The secret isn't a product. It's a one-minute lash bath at the sink every night. Here's how it works in an Edmonton November, and what Marinelle Trevino, the Mari behind Mari Esthetics, will want to know. Book your Volume Set here.

Look at the calendar. The Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas weekend lands on November 7–8 in Edmonton, and Guru Nanak Gurpurab falls on Monday, November 23 (LifeKundali's Edmonton festival calendar). The City's free community Diwali gathering is on Sunday, November 8 at Mill Woods Park, with fireworks if the final inspection and the weather allow (City of Edmonton Diwali page). Then the Edmonton Christmas Market opens at Fort Edmonton Park on November 27. That's three weeks of family photos, lights and late visits, with freezing nights, wet snow and the furnace running in between.

Yes, volume lashes are harder to clean

Let's be honest about this one. In an interview with the Spanish magazine Telva, lash artist Edyta Kurowska said volume extensions are "mucho más difíciles de limpiar", much harder to clean, and that keeping the lash line spotless gets harder. It's one of the reasons she doesn't recommend volume (read the Telva interview).

She has a point. A volume fan is several very fine extensions on a single natural lash, so there's more surface for skin oil, makeup and kitchen steam to cling to. Buildup at the base is what weakens the bond and makes lashes look clumpy. The answer isn't avoiding water. It's a gentle routine you actually do.

At Mari Esthetics, the Volume Set uses lightweight YY, W, UU and premium 4D–5D premade fans, customized to your eye shape and the look you want, from soft everyday volume to a more glamorous finish, with comfort and lash health kept in mind.

Water isn't the enemy (after the first day)

The Spanish lash academy Puravida Lash calls "don't get your lashes wet" the most damaging myth about extensions. Their guide says to keep water and steam off the lashes for the first 24 hours, and after that daily cleansing is a must, ideally at night (Puravida Lash's aftercare guide). The Spanish studio Migami says 24 to 48 hours (Migami's lash care guide). Guides don't all agree, so follow the window Marinelle gives you at your appointment.

After that, snowflakes on your lashes on the walk from the car are fine. Wiping them off with a wool mitt isn't. Wet is fine. Rubbing isn't.

The 60-second lash bath

This is our own simple routine, built from those guides, for the end of an Edmonton day:

  • Warm, not hot. Splash the eye area with lukewarm water.
  • Oil-free lash cleanser. One or two drops on a soft, clean lash brush.
  • Base to tips. Brush gently downward along the lashes, about 20 seconds an eye. No side-to-side scrubbing.
  • Rinse. Tilt your head so the water runs down and away.
  • Pat, don't rub. Pat the skin around the eyes with a clean towel, or use the cool setting on the hair dryer from a distance, as Migami suggests.
  • Brush once dry. Comb through with a clean spoolie. Migami says volume needs a little more brushing than classic lashes: morning and after each wash.

If you wash your face several times a day, including before prayer, the same rule applies: pat, don't rub, and brush once dry. This is general guidance from lash guides. Marinelle will go over aftercare for your own set at your appointment.

Edmonton-only threats to a fluffy set

Skip mascara and oily or waterproof eye makeup. If you wear kohl or kajal every day, read volume lashes for women who never skip liner. If your lashes are shedding faster than you expected, try the 7-day retention test.

How long a volume set lasts, and when to fill

A Volume Fill at Mari Esthetics is $70 for about 90 minutes, with a $25 deposit. It's recommended every 2 to 3 weeks, and you should arrive with at least 40–50% of your extensions remaining; with fewer, you may need a full set instead. Every Volume Fill includes removal of outgrown extensions, a lash bath and new lightweight volume lashes. That's where your nightly lash bath pays off: a minute at the sink is the difference between a $70 fill and starting over with a $100 set. Book a Volume Fill.

If the Volume Set is new to you, start with light volume (2D–5D) in West Edmonton before Diwali, and for the market weeks see a Volume Fill before the Christmas Market.

What it costs, and how that compares

At $100 for the set and $70 for the fill, Mari Esthetics is one of the lowest-priced volume options in Edmonton. For comparison, Lash Up in West Edmonton lists a volume full set at $200 and a volume fill at $105 (Lash Up's price list), and Lotus Laser Skin lists a volume full set at $190 and a volume fill at $100 (Lotus Laser Skin's lash page), both checked October 30, 2026. A few places list lower prices, so see the full studio-by-studio table in what volume lashes cost in Edmonton in 2026. A lower price doesn't mean a rushed set: it's still a one-on-one appointment of about 150 minutes. For everything about the service, see our volume lashes in Edmonton guide, and check the booking page for any current offer.

From Marinelle's chair: what she'll ask you

Marinelle Trevino works one-on-one, so your appointment is a good time to talk about real life, not just lash length. Come with clean eyes, and expect questions like these:

  • How often you wash your face, including before prayer, if you do.
  • Whether your eyes water in the cold on the walk to the car or the bus.
  • Whether you cook over steam a lot, especially in festival weeks.
  • Which nights matter most: Diwali, Gurpurab, a wedding or the Christmas Market.
  • Soft or glam: soft everyday volume or a more glamorous finish.

Mari Esthetics is a private home studio in West Edmonton, close to Callingwood, Lewis Estates, The Hamptons, Glastonbury and Granville, and an easy drive from St. Albert, Spruce Grove or Stony Plain. The address is shared at booking. Read more about Marinelle and about our West Edmonton studio.

When to book: fluffy from Diwali to Gurpurab

Book your Volume Set in the first days of November, ideally by November 5, so the first-day no-water window is behind you before the Diwali weekend. Do your lash bath every night. Then book a Volume Fill 2 to 3 weeks later, around November 19–26, so you're fluffy again for Gurpurab and the Christmas Market opening. Book a Volume Set in West Edmonton.
