Classic Lashes Edmonton for Hooded Eyes: $70, 2 Hours in West Edmonton, Lashes That Clear the Fold
Hooded or monolid lids hiding your lashes? Why a Classic Set in West Edmonton ($70, about 2 hours, $25 deposit) is the gentle first try, the one thing to ask for, and how to keep lashes clear of the fold all winter.

The short answer
Yes, hooded and monolid eyes can wear lash extensions. At Mari Esthetics in West Edmonton, a Classic Set with Marinelle Trevino is $70 for about 120 minutes, with a $25 deposit credited to the total. Ask for a curl and length chosen so the tips clear your fold with your eyes open.
You walk out of a lash appointment with a gorgeous set, look straight into the hallway mirror, and it's gone, folded away under your lid. If your eyes are hooded or monolid, that moment has a fix. A Classic Set with Marinelle Trevino at Mari Esthetics is $70 for about 120 minutes (2 hours), with a $25 deposit credited to the total, and Classic Fills are $45 every 2–3 weeks. It's a private home studio in West Edmonton (address shared at booking), and you can book your Classic Set here. Your lid isn't the problem. The curl is.
Lashes that clear the fold, even with a toque pulled low.
Why lashes disappear on hooded and monolid eyes
On a hooded eye, a soft fold of skin sits over the crease and part of the lash line when your eyes are open. On a monolid, there's no visible crease at all. Either way, three things tend to happen with a set that wasn't planned for your lid:
- The base hides. The fold covers the first part of each lash, so only the tips show, and short or straight tips barely show at all.
- Tight curls hit the lid. A very curly extension can bend back toward the fold, so the tips brush or poke your lid every time you blink.
- Mascara stamps the fold. If you've been doing mascara instead, you know the little black dots it leaves on your lid by the time you're through the Whitemud.
None of this means your eyes are "hard" for lashes. Hooded lids aren't only an age thing either: Glamour México points out that many of us are born with them, and that they can make us look tired ("desveladas") when the makeup works against them. Lids also change over the years, so a set that suited you at 30 may need a different plan at 50.
Why a Classic Set is the gentle first try for hooded lids
Mari's live menu describes the Classic Set simply: one extension attached to one natural lash, for a natural, mascara-like look. For a hooded or monolid eye, that simplicity helps. You're not adding weight to a lid that already sits low, and you see exactly what your own lashes can do with a little length and lift.
Spanish-language makeup artists say something similar about makeup. Glamour México warns that with droopy lids you have to be careful with volume, keeping it mostly at the outer corners and the rest light. And in Glamour España, makeup artist Cristina Lobato finishes her hooded-eye look with plenty of lash, suggesting individual "pelo a pelo" false lashes so the result stays natural. A Classic Set is basically that idea, made semi-permanent: lash by lash, nothing to glue on in a parking lot.
"Design it eyes-open": the one thing to ask for
Lashes are applied while you lie down with your eyes closed, which is exactly the position where a hooded lid looks least hooded. That's why the plan has to be made for how your eyes look open. Lash-artist education in Spanish puts it plainly: the Puravida Lash academy says that on hooded eyes the goal is to "jump" the fold, using flatter-based curls, and that very tight curls can poke the lid and cause discomfort.
You don't need to know curl letters. In plain words, ask for this:
- Curl and length chosen so the tips land above your fold when you look straight ahead, not just when you're lying down.
- Lift over drama. A little extra length is fine; a lash that's much longer than your own usually isn't the answer.
- A mirror check with your eyes open before you leave, so you can say if anything touches your lid.
From Marinelle's chair
Marinelle Trevino does every lash appointment at Mari Esthetics herself, one client at a time, so nobody is rushing you out to make room for the next chair. Each appointment starts with a consultation on length, curl and classic versus volume mapping for your lifestyle, then a gentle cleanse of the lash line before any extension goes on. Before you leave there's a comfort check and an aftercare walkthrough. That comfort check is your moment: sit up, open your eyes, look straight ahead and say "my lids are hooded, do the tips clear the fold?" When you book, add a note that your lids are hooded or monolid, and if you wear glasses, mention that too. You can read more about Marinelle.

Edmonton reasons to stop fighting mascara on hooded lids
- Toque down, scarf up. From November to March your eyes are often the only part of your face anyone sees at the school drop-off in Callingwood or the bus stop in Lewis Estates.
- Furnace-dry eyes. When dry indoor heat makes you rub your eyes, mascara flakes settle right into the fold. A classic set has nothing to smudge.
- Halloween is a Saturday. October 31 falls on a weekend this year, with Halloween at the Muttart that afternoon and costume photos all night. Book this week and your set is settled by then.

Keeping it clear of the fold
A set only clears the fold while it's full. Mari's Classic Fill is $45 for about 90 minutes, recommended every 2–3 weeks, and you should arrive with at least 40–50% of your extensions still on; under 40%, or more than 4 weeks since your last appointment, may need a full set. You can book a Classic Fill here. If lashes seem to leave early, our lash retention guide and 7-day test helps you tell normal shedding from a bond problem. Work out or sweat a lot? Quick answers
Can I get lash extensions if I have hooded eyes? Yes. The set just needs curl and length chosen so the tips clear your lid fold when your eyes are open. Mention your hooded lids when you book.
How much are classic lashes in West Edmonton? At Mari Esthetics a Classic Set is $70, about 120 minutes, with a $25 deposit credited to the total. Classic Fills are $45.
Do classic lashes work on monolid eyes? Yes. One extension per natural lash keeps the look light, and the curl is chosen at the appointment for how your eyes look open.
Will a classic set look natural? It's designed to: one extension on each natural lash gives a mascara-like look, not a strip-lash look.
How often do I need a fill? Every 2–3 weeks, while at least 40–50% of your extensions remain.
Your lid isn't the problem, and it never was. It just needed a set designed with your eyes open.
