It's Not Your Lash Artist, It's November: The Fall Shed and Your Classic Fill in West Edmonton

Classic set looking patchy at two weeks? Classic Fill in West Edmonton: 90 min, $45, $25 deposit. Why fall fills come sooner, plus a PBR Finals fill calendar.

It's not your lash artist. It's November. If your classic set looks patchier at the two-week mark than it did in July, a Classic Fill in West Edmonton is the fix: 90 minutes, $45 CAD, and a $25 deposit to hold your spot. The studio recommends a fill every 2–3 weeks with at least 40–50% of your extensions still on, and through the fall shed it's smart to aim for the two-week end. Read the full guide to lash extensions in West Edmonton, or book your Classic Fill now.

This one is for the classic-set girls of Lewis Estates, Callingwood, The Hamptons, Glastonbury and Windermere who looked in the mirror this week and thought, "Wait, where did half my lashes go?"

Hair in the shower drain, gaps on the lash line

Every fall, the same worried message goes around the group chat: more hair on the brush, more hair in the drain. Spanish dermatologist Leire Barrutia, speaking to La Vanguardia, says autumn scalp shedding is very common and that the hair grows back. Hair-medicine specialist Dra. Alba Gómez put it even more kindly in Semana: seasonal shedding is renewal, not real loss of density, and it usually settles within roughly six weeks to three months.

That's scalp hair. What about lashes? Here's the honest version: there's no solid study proving eyelashes shed more in the fall. But lash artists in Spain and Latin America keep describing the same pattern. Spanish lash brand Seena Owell tells artists that some clients lose more lashes in autumn and winter, and the pro blog Gollee says shedding tends to rise in spring and fall while openly admitting the cause isn't confirmed. We like that honesty. So we won't call it science. We'll call it a pattern worth planning around.

Why the fall shed shows up on a classic set first

A classic set is one extension on one natural lash. That's what makes it look so clean and mascara-like, and it's also why every lash that cycles out leaves a visible gap. The extension isn't failing. Your natural lash finished its life and took the extension with it. Spanish lash academy Gaze Institute sums it up nicely: it isn't a flaw, it's biology.

Denser hybrid or volume sets hide a few missing lashes for longer. On a natural classic line, you notice right away. If you're still deciding whether classics are for you, start with our mascara-free winter mornings guide.

Your November fill calendar

Summer fills ran on a three-week clock. The fall shed runs on two. The live Classic Fill rules are simple:

  • Come in every 2–3 weeks.
  • Arrive with at least 40–50% of your extensions still on.
  • Under 40%, or more than 4 weeks since your last appointment, and a full set may be needed instead.

In July, three weeks might have left you comfortably above that line. In November, the same three weeks can land you right at the edge. Gaze Institute's advice is practical: if you usually show up with very little left, book a week earlier. Book the fill for the 40% you still have, not the 20% you'll have after one more Henday week.

The easiest habit: book your next fill before you leave the chair. If you want the basics of the natural lash cycle, our first Classic Fill before Halloween post explains it, so we won't repeat it here.

What you can control (and what you can't)

You can't stop natural lashes from shedding. You can make sure the extensions only leave when the natural lash does:

  • Cleanse your lashes daily with a lash-safe cleanser, then brush them through.
  • Keep oil-based removers and heavy night creams away from the lash line.
  • Skip waterproof mascara.
  • Don't rub, pick or pull, even when they feel itchy after a long day.
  • Arrive at your fill with clean, makeup-free lashes.

Gollee also suggests a slightly softer curl or shorter length can make gaps less obvious during the shed. That's a conversation, not a promise. Ask Marinelle if it makes sense for your lashes this month. For toque and scarf care, see our first-snow lash post. For furnace-dry air, see our dry-winter holiday fills guide. Working nights? When it's not the fall shed

Normal seasonal shedding is gradual. Some things are not. Dr. Sergio Vañó of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology, quoted in La Nueva España, lists losing eyebrow or eyelash hair, round bald patches, itching, redness or inflammation, and shedding that won't stop among the signs that need a dermatologist.

So if you notice bare patches on the lash line, brow loss, itchy or red lids, swelling or crusting, or shedding that keeps going for months, see a doctor or optometrist before your next fill. Marinelle looks at your natural lashes at every appointment and will tell you if she sees something worth getting checked. A fill is beauty care, not a diagnosis.

Boots, hat, clean lash line: PBR Finals weekend

The PBR Canada National Finals are back at Rogers Place on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, 2026, with bull riding starting at 7 p.m. both nights. It's the season finale where the 2026 PBR Canada champion gets crowned, and it's a big girls' night downtown: boots, hats, and the drive in from the west end.

A natural classic set fits a western-night look perfectly, as long as it isn't half gone. Count back two weeks. If your last fill was around October 26 to 29, book your Classic Fill for Monday, November 9 to Thursday, November 12. Eight seconds on the bull, two weeks between fills.

Quick questions

Do lashes really shed more in the fall?
Seasonal scalp shedding is well documented. For lashes, it's something many lash artists notice rather than a proven fact. Either way, planning a slightly shorter fill rhythm this time of year keeps your set looking full.

Can I still go three weeks?
Yes. Every 2–3 weeks is the recommended range. Just expect to arrive a bit thinner this month, and stay above that 40% mark.

I wear hybrids or volume. Does this apply to me?
The shedding logic is the same. Book the fill that matches your set: Hybrid Fill or Volume Fill.

It's not your lash artist. It's November. Book the fill.
